Germany is once again massively rearming
In recent decades, the German government has invested very little in armaments. The shock of World War II was still too deep, and Germany could rely on its American allies.
That has now changed abruptly since Russia and Ukraine are once again fighting over land, power, and influence. An anachronism in Europe that was long believed to have been overcome. Now the tanks and artillery guns are rolling again. Now even the German government can no longer bury its head in the sand. War in Europe also means forced rearmament of Germany.
This is all the more true now that the US has announced its withdrawal from NATO – quite rightly so – if its European allies continue to show a lack of solidarity and do not consider it necessary to invest in defense. It has long been known that the Bundeswehr, tired and dilapidated, would not be able to prevent even a third-rate enemy from taking Germany.
Interview with Dr. Stephan Ebner, expert on Western and Asian defense industries
Interview with Pascal Lottaz
In this context, Dr. Stephan M. Ebner was invited by Japanese professor Pascal Lottaz to be interviewed about the German rearmament process.
With his law firm LANA AP. MA International Legal Services, Dr. Ebner has been advising arms companies from the US, the DAC region, and Asia for many years. Dr. Ebner is therefore also an expert on modern weapons systems. One focus of his work is to pave the way for European companies to enter the US arms industry.

Why are German SMEs in particular rearming themselves?
Because it is socially acceptable again and there is a lot of money to be made!
This applies in particular to so-called “dual-use goods,” i.e., goods that can be used in peacetime but also in wartime.
German companies manufacture these goods anyway. If they can now also use them in the arms industry, they often do not need to make large investments to tap into large new customer groups.
Germany and NATO, with the exception of the US, have been asleep at the wheel
Another contributing factor is that NATO, and Germany in particular, have been asleep at the wheel in recent years. Only the US has invested wisely. The German armed forces are chronically underfunded. It is said that even shooting exercises cannot be carried out properly in the German armed forces because of a lack of ammunition.

This development can no longer be stopped. We have seen and experienced it too often in history. Why it had to come to this again is beyond the author. As a result, however, medium-sized companies from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland can do very good business if they try to cooperate with US defense contractors. The US spends a lot on its defense.
However, this is a “closed circle.” Outsiders are unlikely to be accepted into the circle of confidants. They need professionals who can bring them into this circle. Dr. Ebner and LANA AP. MA have extensive experience in bringing European companies into the US or Asian defense industry.
