We recently discussed the possibility of investing in the defense sector. A number of companies from DACH that produce so-called “dual-use goods” are particularly confronted with the question of whether to invest in defense, now, with having a war in the East close to the own borders. This is where collaboration with large, global defense companies comes in handy.
Clients have often asked us, what they should do being interested in cooperating with Chinese and US big players in the defense world, especially.
The route to Asia is usually blocked as to our experience. This is simply not politically desired; Western companies that want to work with, for example, state-of-the-art Chinese defense companies will face great difficulties. Often the economically most sensible option is to go to the US. Here, direct collaborations can be entered into with the respective branches of the armed forces (US ARMY etc.) or with potent private armaments manufacturers.
In our experience, working with companies like Lockheed Martin, Raytheon or Northrop Grumman is a great chance to get into this market. The budgets here often feel unlimited.
As an internationally active law firm, we are happy to help our clients get in touch with such or comparable global corporate groups in order to help develop new potential business areas.
Please feel free to contact us in this context at any time, too!
